Auburn's final football camp of the summer yielded a commitment from wide receiver Sammie Coates on Saturday.We know this because the fine folks at AuburnUndercover.com and AuburnSports.com reported it earlier tonight.
The 6-foot-3, 170-pound receiver from Leroy, Ala., originally committed to Southern Miss in March.
Coates, a former high school teammate of Auburn quarterback Clint Moseley, was a first-team all-state selection as a junior after making 50 catches for 875 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Rivals lists him as a three-star recruit and the No. 33 player in the state. Scout lists him as a two-star recruit.
Coates is Auburn's ninth commitment for 2011 and its first wide receiver.

Hopefully, he'll earn some more "stars" this season. If not, I'm sure Chizik can "coach him up". After all, Chiz's mentor was the master of "coaching up" the 2* and 3* players.
