• Gene Chizk's favorite Iron Bowl was his first, writes Kevin Scarbinsky of the Birmingham News.

• One more win and Georgia will probably go to Tampa for a bowl. A loss, and Shreveport isn't out of the realm of possibility, writes David Hale of the Macon Telegraph.

• Bulldogs WR Israel Troupe rushed onto the field after A.J. Green got hurt. Then he caught a touchdown against Auburn, writes Hale.

• Jerry Hinnen of the War Eagle Reader writes a first-half recap of the Georgia game.

• Jon Solomon of the Birmingham News asks if regional officiating crews would add or remove bias from the game.

• Auburn got a D on its minority hiring report card from the Black Coaches & Administrators, writes Solomon. Apparently Auburn didn't get signatures along the way to document its affirmative action policies. Other than that, the school got a good grade. Seems like a flawed grading system to me.

• Arkansas QB Ryan Mallett is re-writing the Razorbacks' record books, writes ESPN blogger Chris Low.

• Tennessee's Lane Kiffin is backing his statement that the team hadn't had an arrest in the first 11 months he was there, writes Dave Kindred of the Knoxville News Sentinel. He was just being technical about Nyshier Oliver's citation for theft by shoplifting at Dillard's (why is it always Dillard's?).

• Bobby Bowden wants another year at Florida State. He's not talking about it much, but his wife is.

• The best conference race in the country is in the Pac-10, writes Stewart Mandel of Sports Illustrated.

• Running backs rule the Heisman race for a change.

• The walls are crashing on Kansas' Mark Mangino, who apparently has a bit of a temper and can get out of line with players. And parking ticket guys. Jason Whitlock of the Kansas City Star, as usual, has a unique take: Mangino's weight is the problem.
