The still-unnamed arena is ahead of schedule, but it still won't be ready for Auburn until July 7, 2010, so basketball fans have another year of having to endure BEMC for another season before moving into what is expected to be the cozy confines of the 9,600-seat arena, which is 900 seats fewer than the Tigers' current arena.
Here are a bunch of pictures I took during the tour with a description under each:

I think they should name the new basketball arena "Jim Fyffe Fieldhouse" or the "Jim Fyffe Forum". I like the first one better personally. The fact that we have nothing to show for the Auburn legend blows my mind. "Oh my!! Hello Abbyville Alabama" What do you guys think about possible names for the new complex?
Please don't refer to BEMC as a monstrosity. I had many great times in that building watching Auburn win but mostly lose. It looks like those who were for renovating BEMC were wise compared to the 92 million dollar montrosity that will have some corporate name...at least we know colonial bank won't have the money to purchase the name rights LOL! Great blog otherwise! I hope Auburn doesn't go bankrupt.
You might have had some good times at the BEMC, but you've got to admit it's an eyesore on this campus.
BEMC is not a monstrosity or any eyesore. It is actually quite endearing. To me, the amazing thing is that $92 million will get you a building just like BEMC, only now you can watch the game from the concessions. What a waste. The only thing that may save it is if we do what Adam suggests, name it after Jim Fyffe.
