• Ball State's Stan Parrish's team might be 0-3, but the first-year coach said he's seeing improvement from his Cardinals, writes Doug Zaleski of the Muncie Star Press. On the sidebar, there's also a note that free safety Sean Baker broke his hand at Army and will miss Saturday's game.

• Zaleski also gives a rundown of what Parrish said in his entire MAC teleconference on his blog.

• Georgia's defense ranks last in most defensive categories after three games, writes David Hale of the Macon Telegraph.

• Alabama's got a bunch of sacks, but Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban doesn't care. He's all about getting pressure on an opposing quarterback, writes John Zenor of the Associated Press.

• Hey, what have we here? A LIVE chat about Auburn football on Thursday at 1 p.m. ET/noon CT? Well, if I were you, I'd show up with any question you might have about what the Tigers have done this year and what the might still do.

• Columbus State has a club football team in case you didn't know, writes Ledger-Enquirer colleague Chuck Williams.

• Oh, Lane Kiffin. Don't ever change. Ever.

• Boy, Paul Finebaum really dislikes him some Urban Meyer. I don't think Florida's lost a step at all, by the way. Check back in at the end of the year, when the Gators are still in the SEC championship game.

• ESPN.com's Chris Low says the SEC is still the best defensive conference in the country. Alabama is third nationally, Tennessee fifth, Florida 11th, South Carolina 15th, Vanderbilt 21st and Kentucky 28th. I don't know, though. There are a lot of offensive minds who are starting to make some headway.

• ESPN's Mark Schlabach writes his weekly "On the Mark" article, telling us what we know and what we thought we knew in college football at the quarter pole.

• Jerry Hinnen of The War Eagle Reader gives us his weekly Schedule Stockwatch. There are a lot of teams whose stock is going down or holding steady. Things might be opening up just right for Auburn this season.

• Relax, bro. Your Clemson Tigers only lost a game to Georgia Tech. It's not the national championship game. Kudos to ESPN's Chris Fowler for rightly laughing at this guy.

• Oregon coach Chip Kelly is a stand-up guy. He actually wrote a check for $439 to a fan who wanted a refund for traveling to watch the Ducks stink up the joint, then punch up the joint at Boise State. I'd hate to be Al Groh's checkbook right now.

• Wisconsin's Brett Bielema said he uses Twitter to see what opposing players are saying leading up to games against the Badgers, according to this AP article. What a forward-thinking coach from a forward-thinking university. Anybody who went there must be destined for great things in life (or they might become a sportswriter).
