Five questions about Auburn football in 2010

I wrote a story for today's newspaper pretty much summing up my position-by-position blog posts from the last two weeks. Here's how it starts:

AUBURN, Ala. — One of the loudest cheers during Saturday’s basketball game at Beard-Eaves-Memorial was reserved for football coach Gene Chizik, who officially accepted the Outback Bowl trophy in front of the Tigers’ fans.

The lesson? As usual, football is always on peoples’ minds in Auburn.

That being said, here are five questions looking forward to the 2010 season:

Read the full thing here. And, if you feel like it, post your own thoughts about what Auburn's biggest questions will be in 2010 in the comments section on the blog.

And it wouldn't be a blog post without an obligatory Twitter plug. Follow the blog here.

My burning question is a hybrid of your questions three and four and will go along way to answer number five: “How much improvement can we expect to see on the defensive side of the ball?” I’m a huge supporter of coach Roof and appreciate what he was able to accomplish this season with the resources at his disposal. The only defensive coach I would be critical of would be coach Rocker in that our DT’s did not display the range of pass rushing techniques we had seen in the past.

To be a consistent winner and win championships, you have to play both good offensively and defensively. The offensive is close to being championship caliber, the defensive needs to catch up.

I think the development of a winning QB is the key to the 2010 season.
Remember, the '08 team was picked to win the SEC west. Then the Franklin fiasco played out, but the talent has always been there.

It wouldn't have taken much more to have 10 wins in '09. A few less injuries, a KO return stopped short, and we're at 10 or more.

For 2010 a RB will emerge. If a QB capable of leading the team steps up, 10+ wins is easy to see.

Newton, Caudle, Rollison, Trotter, Moseley, it doesn't matter who, if one will step up, the sky's the limit!

9 or 10 wins is what I see. We will split with LSU/Arky and split with UGA/UAT. The Starkville Thursday night game is the trapp game for us. There will not be any "Kentucky like" losses this year.

with an all star backfield and a trio of new receivers coming in,2010 looks like we maybe could challenge for the west with bama losing alot of starters
