Quick notes from Auburn's second scrimmage

Auburn scrimmaged for the second time this August on Saturday. Here are some of the highlights:
  • WR Trovon Reed was back after missing the first scrimmage with a knee injury, something that's bothered him since high school when he injured his MCL. He had a big day, working some as a Wildcat quarterback. Kodi Burns worked some as the Wildcat guy as well.
  • Gene Chizik, commenting overall: "We were looking for a noticeable improvement from scrimmage one to scrimmage two. We got that today. ... I thought today was a great step in the right direction."
  • Auburn did plenty of live kicks and punts today. Quindarius Carr and Jonathon Mincy sound like the top two guys, although Chizik also mentioned Darvin Adams and Anthony Morgan. Mincy sounds like he could be a kick return guy too.
  • More running the ball today than the first scrimmage. DT Jeffrey Whitaker said it was a pretty even contest.
  • Barrett Trotter got some snaps. He said he didn't get any in the first scrimmage.
  • Chizik said there was an even split among the quarterbacks.
  • Wes Byrum hit some long field goals. One was close to 50 yards. "He kicked like he did last year," Chizik said.
  • Still no contact for safety Zac Etheridge (neck).
I'll be back in a bit with some more in depth notes.
