His underlying point? It might take Chizik a little while to right the ship at Auburn, and he won't have the public support of an inpatient Tigers fan base that is fractured over his hiring.
A couple things don't help Chizik:
- The competitiveness of the SEC right now
- Alabama's resurgence under Nick Saban
- A general inpatience football-wise in this part of the country

The biggest hurt on Chizik is the fact Auburn fans don't seem to want him. Sure, they are giving the obligatory "war eagle" towards Chizik, but I don't think a lot of people have claimed him yet.
AU will not regain that fan-base until a.) Chizik wins (the whole point of this post though) or b.) We hire a non-sexton sponsored coach. c.) Ranes, Lowder, and company are in the nursing homes.
I think for c it should be "grave" not "nursing homes." Plenty of people are unhappy and, hopefully like me, are hoping Chizik proves us all wrong. Pressure will be bigger on him than normal for sure because he wasn't wanted.
And considering the fact we haven't hired an OC and we've got another offensive commit looking to go elsewhere. If Auburn had wanted to satisfy the fans they should've named the OC at the same time they named Chizik. It's hard to accept the fact we hired a defensive specialist when our problems were on offense. Then Chizik refers to his philosophy on offense as one that's 200 years old--way to get everyone excited.
Felix, that's what Auburn wants.
"Here at Auburn, we run the football."
I heard that over and over for the last 3 months.
