Malzahn impressive in final game with Tulsa

OK, so Gus Malzahn knows how to coach a little offense.

I defy anyone not to come away from Tulsa's 45-13 GMAC Bowl win against Ball State impressed. The Golden Hurricane was an offensive juggernaut, and did it in a driving rain for most of the night. With its 632-yard effort, Tulsa finished the season as the No. 1-ranked offense in the country.

How's that for a showcase for potential Auburn recruits?

Some other stats from the game:

Yards: 632
Rushing yards: 439!
Passing yards: 193
First downs: 30
Third down: 9-for-18
Penalties: 0 for 0 yards
Turnovers: 0

That, my friends, is a well-oiled machine.

Now what does that mean for Auburn? Let's just say I wouldn't book any Sugar Bowl tickets quite yet. Malzahn appears to be a great offensive mind, but the Tigers still have major talent issues at quarterback, offensive line and wide receiver (I think they're pretty set at running back with Ben Tate and Mario Fannin).

Still, if you're an Auburn fan, you have to come away from that game happy with the Malzahn hire. And judging from the poll I had up before, which was 98 percent in favor of the addition, that includes just about everybody.
