Oklahoma State co-offensive coordinator Trooper Taylor is in Auburn.
Taylor is being courted to join Gene Chizik's Auburn's staff. No word on what position Chizik has in mind.
Taylor arrived on a plane arriving from Stillwater, Okla., this morning with newly hired Tigers running backs coach Curtis Luper, a former OSU assistant. Kudos to reporters Evan Woodberry and Andrew Gribble for trekking to the airport this morning to witness the landing.
Taylor is also reportedly being pursued by Tennesee and Miami. OSU coach Mike Gundy confirmed to the Tulsa World on Friday that Auburn had sought permission to speak with Taylor, Oklahoma State's co-offensive coordinator last year.
"What can you do? Coaching changes happen after bowl games — and during recruiting," Gundy told the paper. "When you bring guys in and they do a good job, people come after them. That's just the way it is."
The 38-year-old Taylor spent four years at Tennessee prior to his time in Stillwater, as a running backs coach from 2004-05 and wide recievers coach from 2006-07. He was a running backs coach at Tulane from 1999-03.
The Tulsa World also reported that Luper will be paid $400,000 annually at Auburn. He made $228,000 last year at OSU.
