Live blogging Gene Chizik press conference

Gene Chizik is answering questions about the Georgia game right now. Here's what he's had to say:
  • "This is a great rivalry week for us. Georgia's going to be a great challenge. This game through the year always seems to go back and forth. So we've got our work cut out."
  • Chizik on if he's buying stock: "I'm really proud of our football team. I've seen them go through a lot of good and bad and be able to handle both, just very resilient, who I thought they would be. They just keep coming back and keep fighting." (It should be noted that that didn't really answer the question.)
  • "Is that good without answering your question?" Even Gene recognizes that he dodges questions.
  • On A.J. Green: "Just a great talent. He's got a lot of range, speed. He's their go-to-guy. They take a lot of shots to him down the field. It'll be a huge challenge for our secondary. He's one of those receivers who's going to make you work all night long."
  • On preparing for an up-and-down QB like Joe Cox: "He's a very, very good quarterback. The more pressure you can get on him, the better."
  • "He's an extremely talented guy and can put the ball right on the money."
  • Chizik thinks Georgia's done a lot of nice things on defense. Talented, physical, front four poses problems for you. "This day and age, like our defense, you're going to give up some yards at times," he said.
  • Chizik was glad to get the second half off for his starters last Saturday. He was also happy to get some playing time for guys who might not normally play.
  • On the rivalry game: "They have a pep in their step. But they've been like that all year."
  • On the injuries: "I think our staff has done a nice job of being able to plug different guys in."
  • On assistants being brought up for other job openings: "It's a fine line. I want our guys and I want to be a help to our guys to be able to achieve every goal they set out to do when they became a coach. If that's being a head coach, I want to help them. Just like people helped me. Obviously I don't want to lose any of them, but my job is to help them achieve their goals."
  • "If that's what they want to do, there's no reason why I wouldn't help."
  • Mario Fannin continues to blossom as a player. "That's another example of a guy who stepped up and has assumed some roles he didn't necessarily have at the beginning of the year."
  • Injury updates:
  • Don't know about RB Onterio McCalebb (ankle). "It's just been a struggle at this point," Chizik said.
  • WR Travante Stallworth is out with a knee injury. He won't play this week.
  • LB Adam Herring is day-by-day. "He's struggling a bit right now," Chizik said.
  • On RB Ben Tate: "I think the acknowledgments now are well-deserved."
  • Chizik thinks that helps in recruiting. "When you've got running backs out there figuring out where to go, and you've got a running back his 1,000 yards in nine games, that's tough to do. If you want to rush for 1,000 yards in this offense, you're going to get opportunities to do it, because we're going to run the ball."

That's from the Ole Miss game I think. Carlos Rogers and Cadillac Williams.

You think this is a little Belichick game planning? hiding/misreporting injuries to throw off opponents? I certainly hope so.

I don't think so. McCalebb hasn't even played the last two weeks. There really is something wrong with his ankle.
