- Nick Saban has pulled out the coach talk this week, saying he "respects" UT-Chattanooga, writes Michael Casagrande of the Decatur Daily.
- Saban's in the movie "The Blind Side." His players took great delight in seeing him on the big screen, writes Don Kausler Jr. of the Birmingham News.
- Saban also didn't second-guess his former mentor Bill Belichick's decision to go for it on fourth down late in the Colts game, Kausler writes.
- This is predictable, although the Mobile Press-Register really went all out with its graphic. Paul Finebaum thinks Alabama will roll over Auburn in the Iron Bowl.
- Jerry Hinnen of the War Eagle Reader has some observations from the Georgia game.
- He also has some more bowl breakdown.
- Georgia defensive tackle Geno Atkins had a slow start this season, but he's coming along, writes David Hale of the Macon Telegraph.
- Two of the three Tennessee players involved in late week's attempted armed robbery are off the team, writes Dave Kindred of the Knoxville News Sentinel. Lane Kiffin is waiting for more details to emerge to decide the fate of safety Janzen Jackson, who remains suspended.
- ESPN's SEC blogger Chris Low has a list of breakout stars in the SEC. No Auburn players on this list. Kind of thought we'd at least see Darvin Adams.
- Quick break from football: the Auburn men's basketball team dropped to 1-1 after losing at Missouri State yesterday.
- Stanford's Jim Harbaugh, Georgia Tech's Paul Johnson and TCU's Gary Patterson are leading their teams to hot finishes, writes Mark Schlabach of ESPN.
- How about this for coach who's team is heating up? Coach Paul Rhoads has improved Iowa State by four games this year. That's the biggest improvement of any team in the country.
- The denials of having interest in the not-yet-vacant Notre Dame job have begun. First up: Oklahoma's Bob Stoops.
- Running backs are taking over the Heisman race, writes Gene Menez of Sports Illustrated.
- Has Rich Rodriguez done one thing right as Michigan's coach? Just one thing? I'm curious.
- And one last one just for my own amusement. The A.V. Club has a list of the top shows of the 00's. It immediately gains credibility in my eyes for having "The Wire" at No. 1 and "Arrested Development" at No. 3 (although I might put it ahead of "The Sopranos" as No. 2). Either way, I wholeheartedly support this list. (Fedora tip to Luke Brietzke for the link.)

Wow. A really poorly photoshoped picture that makes little to no sense. Great job, P-R. You make the newspaper industry proud.
Rich Rodriguez needs to win this week to keep his job imo.
