Thursday links (11/12)

Another day, another set of links. Let's get started:
  • ESPN blogger Chris Low's picks are in. He's going with Georgia 31, Auburn 28:
  • "Georgia 31, Auburn 28: The South’s oldest rivalry doesn’t mean as much as it has in past years in terms of the SEC race, but the winner can help itself considerably in the bowl picture. With a trip to Georgia Tech looming in a couple of weeks, the Bulldogs desperately need a win. The Tigers are gunning for their eighth win in Gene Chizik’s first season on the Plains. Both defenses have had their issues this season, which means whoever has the ball last might win. A.J. Green tips the scales in Georgia’s favor."
  • The Wizards of Odds takes a look at how teams schedule their non-conference opponents. Surprise, teams in the SEC don't like to travel very far. In fact, Auburn is the worst offender when it comes to traveling to play non-conference opponents, with only three non-league road games in the last 10 years (although I think they missed the West Virginia game on there, so that should be four).
  • Texas really can waltz into the BCS championship, writes Stewart Mandel of Sports Illustrated In fact, with Oklahoma having a down year, the Longhorns might make the title game having beaten nobody in the season's final top 25. And yet Mack Brown complains that non-BCS teams shouldn't be part of the championship picture.
