Tiger Prowl's back in a fancy new ride

The Tiger Prowl is back, but Auburn left the limos in the garage this year.

Auburn's coaches are touring the state for a second straight year during the spring evaluation period. Although they can't speak with 2011 recruits, they can certainly get their attention, and the motorhome above seems like it would do the trick.

The tour is in Mobile, Ala., today, with trips planned around the state the rest of the week, including Montgomery (Tuesday), Birmingham (Wednesday) and Huntsville (Thursday).

Auburn did it for the first time last year, sending as many coaches as the NCAA allows to the same site for recruiting evaluations. The move drew plenty of attention, even nationally, proving to be a success from a PR perspective.

"We're just going to go out and do our recruiting thing," head coach Gene Chizik said last week at the Columbus/Phenix City Auburn Club, "and obviously try to be on the edge with how we recruit and what we do and things of that nature in terms of just trying to be maybe a little bit different than most."

As you can see by these pictures, Auburn's upgraded the vehicle significantly since last year.

Based on the photos I've seen and a couple of quotes I've read I think the coaches are still using a 'regular' Limo of some sort to go to the schools. Not sure when the bus/RV thing gets used.

From what I've heard, the coaches are using the motor home as their transportation.

And yes, it's more of an RV than a bus.

From today's prowl:

“It was first-class,” Spanish Fort head coach Bryant Vincent said. “They’ve got a great group of coaches. They rolled in doing the Tiger Prowl in their stretch excursion limo.

Daphne assistant coach Mike Vickery said... “They had the big limo out front and I think it was a good experience for the coaches and kids. I think they’re doing a great job creating some excitement. I think it went really well.”

I stand corrected.
