PG Anthony Salter released from letter of intent

Point guard Anthony Salter became the second Auburn basketball signee to be released from his letter of intent in the last week. The news was first reported by the Auburn Sports Blog and AuburnSports.com.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Salter signed with Auburn out of Iowa Western Community College in November, agreeing to play for former coach Jeff Lebo. He was the No. 3-ranked junior college prospect nationally, according to Rivals.

He joins Knoxville, Tenn., guard Jalen Steele in being granted a release by Auburn. The Tigers have four other signees in their 2010 class.

The moves allow new coach Tony Barbee two scholarships to work with in the late signing period, which began today.

I heard Salter wasn't going to qualify... Probably why. Frees up another spot for Barbee. Maybe we can get 4 star Cothron.

That also wipes out all the guard signees, leaving us with a walkon sophomore as the only available point guard for next year.

With most good prospects already gone in the early signing period this could be a severe problem.

All the good prospects are not gone. We have a HUGE visit from Cothron this weekend. Also, Frankie Sullivan is expected to play PG since he played that in HS and that would be his future in the NBA.
