Four-star tight end Brandon Fulse commits to Auburn; Tigers up to 22 commitment for 2011

Four-star tight end Brandon Fulse said on ESPNU Thursday that he'll sign with Auburn on National Signing Day next week.

The 6-foot-4, 247-pound Fulse is the Tigers' 22nd commitment for 2011.

"When I went up there it just felt like home and I really felt comfortable around the coaches," Fulse said.

(Follow the blog on Twitter and Facebook.)

Fulse went to the same high school in Fort Meade, Fla., as current Auburn running back Onterio McCalebb.

"When I get up there he can teach me the ropes and everything he's done," Fulse said.

ESPN lists him as the No. 5 tight end nationally. Rivals has him as the No. 10 tight end and No. 162 player overall. Scout ranks him as the No. 13 tight end.

He picked Auburn over Tennessee, North Carolina and Miami.

Fulse had 43 receptions for 730 yards and 10 touchdowns his senior year. He also had eight sacks on defense, according to Scout.

Fulse is Auburn's second tight end commitment for 2011, joining C.J. Uzomah of Suwanee, Ga. Uzomah, who played quarterback his final season of high school, is a versatile athlete who might play a variety of roles on offense.

The Tigers’ class is now ranked third nationally by Scout, sixth by Rivals and ninth by ESPN.

I continue to be amazed at the recruiting from Chiz and his staff. It's like they have a line-up card for 2013 and they are just plugging in the players position by position.

Hey Andy, why did Auburn cancel Ray Drew's visitation and withdraw from recruiting him? I think he will be as good if not better than Clowney. Is it they thought he wouldn't commit? Or they liked Sigler better? It can't be not enough room. You make room for a player like that

Multiple for pay sites have reported for a couple of days now that Drew is a UGA lock and, apparently, told our coaches who withdrew the offer and are concentrating their energies elsewhere as they should.

Andy, when is the next scheduled announcement? Don't want to miss anyone.

Anonymous has it right. Sounds like Drew wasn't that interested in Auburn.

As for the next announcement, it won't be util signing day, probably. Gabe Wright, Erique Florence and Cyrus Kouandjio are all announcing that day. Wright in the afternoon; Florence and Kouandjio in the morning.

I think Ray Drew called the Auburn coaches and told them he'd settled on UGA. It was nice of Drew to save our guys the time and effort.

Our coaches would not have given up on Drew unless he told them to.

Devaunte Sigler is a great prospect in his own right. He's had an offer from Auburn for months now. Also, LSU and Mississippi State. He is in no way a "fallback" guy because we missed on Drew.

Uh, this is a little scary. I feel like Dr. Frankenstein must have felt when his monster got up and started attacking folks. This monster Chizik has created may be tough to stop. WDE.
