Etheridge injured his neck while trying to make a tackle in the first quarter of Saturday’s 33-20 victory against the Rebels. He was immobilized and taken to East Alabama Medical Center before being transported to a Birmingham-area hospital Saturday night.
“In talking to the medical people, I think everybody’s hopeful for a full recovery,” Chizik said.
Chizik did not want to speculate about Etheridge’s future as a football player.
“I don’t know where that goes,” he said. “We’re talking about full recovery as a person.”
