The dust had barely settled on Auburn's 2010 class when the Tigers grabbed their first commitment for 2011.
Izauea Lanier, who committed to Auburn in 2009 but didn't qualify, said he'll sign with Auburn in 2011, according to the Tigers' three recruiting Web sites -- AuburnSports.com, Inside the Auburn Tigers and AuburnUndercover.com.
Lanier, a Gordo (Ala.) High product, spent last year at East Mississippi Community College. He will redshirt this year at graduate in December, allowing him to enroll in Auburn next January and have three years to play three.
Lanier had 66 tackles, four interceptions and nine pass breakups last season.

We need to have top 5 recruiting classes for several years to firmly plant the program where it belongs. This year we did not sign any big name blue chip DB’s, but did sign a number to work with hoping for some diamonds i.e. like Bates last year. Ever since Chizik arrived, he has been very deliberate and calculating in his approach, addressing the most pressing needs first and not getting distracted. We saw this in this years signing class and Lanier appears to be part of the next step.
By the way Andy, GREAT SIGNING DAY COVERAGE!!!!!!!
your coverage yesterday was superb. It was obvious that you and JGT had dibs on the fax machine.
Great Coverage Andy. I'm a daily visitor to War Eagle Extra. WDE!!
