Multi-purpose athlete Chris Davis joins the Tigers

Chris Davis out of Birmingham's Woodlawn High is officially an Auburn Tiger.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Davis, who committed to Auburn without having taken an official visit, is a multi-purpose athlete. He ran for 870 yards and 10 touchdowns as a senior last season. He had five interceptions on defense.

He projects as a cornerback. He'll also be a candidate to return kicks and punts.

Rivals and Scout have him as a three-star athlete.

Here's a take on Davis by Scout's Scott Kennedy:
"A multi-faceted athlete, Chris Davis does a lot of things for his Woodlawn team, but no matter where he is, it doesn't take long for him to show off his athleticism. He has an outstanding change of direction, coupled with breakaway speed. He's compact and strong and can break tackles as a receiver or jam his man as a defensive back. His athleticism makes him a potential receiver, defensive back, and kick returner."
