Wes Byrum's fifth career game-winning field goal helped him win SEC Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
Byrum, a senior, made a 24-yard field goal as time expired to lift Auburn to a 37-34 victory at Kentucky last Saturday. He also had field goals of 38 and 19 yards.
Byrum has game-winning field goals in three of Auburn's last seven games (Northwestern in the Outback Bowl and Clemson).
It was his second game-winner as time expired. His first, famously, came against Florida in 2007.
Byrum's 51 field goals are first on Auburn's all-time list, breaking the mark of 50 set by John Vaughn (2003-06).
It is the seventh time this season an Auburn player has received an SEC weekly award. Here are the others:
- QB Cam Newton: Offensive POTW against Arkansas State, South Carolina
- DT Nick Fairley: Defensive POTW against Mississippi State, D-line POTW against Louisiana-Monroe
- LB Josh Bynes: Defensive POTW against Clemson
- DT Mike Blanc: D-line POTW against South Carolina
** In scheduling news, Auburn and LSU's Oct. 23 game at Jordan-Hare Stadium will start at 3:30 p.m. ET and be televised by CBS. It's the same time slot as Auburn's game against Arkansas this weekend.

i'm not a big CBS fan. their HD is always fuzzy at my house. dunno why.
But: CBS is where you want to be playing in the second half of the season.
It indicates that your team is "Big News".
I dislike CBS as much as some others. The mistakes in broadcasting are annoying but overall its usually a good production.
I agree with MikeP, this is where you want your game televised this time of year.
Still hate, H A T E Vern, but must agree that the CBS game is an indicia of sucess. Step aside Bama.
CBS will be a CAMeo for Newton in the Heisman race. If he plays well these next two weeks and AU wins, he is a slam dunk.
I definitely expect these next two to be nailbiters; hopefully more passion and luck roll our way. WDE!
I dread having to listen to Verne this week. Nice fellow, but I just don't enjoy his work.
GO AU TIGERS!!! Beat the hogs and the corndogs!!!
BTW, Andy, please have your "Word Verification" dictionary spell-checked.
ciesses?
Everyone knows it's i before e except after c...
oh, i think CBS is good pub, i just think the quality is subpar compared to ESPN.
THT, does it really matter who announces the game? you should be in JHS anyways!
