Report: Cam Newton signs shoe and apparel deal with Under Armour worth over $1 million

Former Auburn quarterback Cam Newton reportedly signed a shoe and apparel deal with Under Armour that sources told CNBC's Darren Rovell is the largest deal ever given to an incoming NFL rookie.

The old record was a $1 million deal former USC running back Reggie Bush got in 2006 with adidas. The actual terms of Newton's deal were not released.

Under Amour will have a collection of Newton Auburn items that includes jerseys with his name on the back (a no-no if he were still in college), football training gear and a signature shoe line.

Auburn has been sponsored by Under Armour since 2005.

Newton, who left Auburn after his junior year, is expected to go in the first half of the first round in April's NFL draft.

Thats 800 thousand dollars more thank his originial asking price! Can someone explain to me why the only news to report on auburn is that Cam Newton who doesnt even play for auburn anymore continues to get every blog article from Bitter. Im not an Auburn fan but I bet Auburn fans would like updates on how auburn is doing now.. Post Scam Newton. Take seth emmerson he actually reports on UGA news and speculation. Not what shoe deal or how cam did at private workouts.

Sir, do you refer to the Seth Emmerson who recently wrote an article about the severity of the cancer that had spread to the nutsack UGA XXVII?

Anon1, while I'm sure Bitter appreciates your traffic, AU fans esp AU fans of Bitter's site do no appreciate your comment which is moronic at best. if you would happen to visit on a regular basis you wold know this, but your attempt at knowledgeable conversation isn't commenable

Given that Cam was one of the greatest single season college football atheletes to ever play the game, I'd say Auburn fans wanting to follow his career is a reasonable activity. And since this is a BLOG and not a NEWSPAPER I'd say Mr. Bitter can write about whatever he damn well chooses. Go troll on Seth Emmerson's blog.

LOL! Auburn fans sure get fired up about Cam Newton. Lets see where your support is after the entire NCAA investigation comes out and they vacate his Heisman and the NC because he was ineligible. I would tread lightly Friedrice Jdinmacon. and you want to follow the activity of someone who played auburn then left after a year. Cam newton laughs at auburn every night at Auburn and AU fans stupidy and being so nieve. his father as well.

Andy, you know you've arrived when rival fans start trolling the comment section of your blog. I for one enjoy your coverage, particularly through spring and fall practice.

How about all you bammers and ugas and others stay off the Auburn sites? I would never dream of going on one of your sites. We don't need your garbage.

I liked the Cam update. In fact, I expect more updates such as this, perhaps even continuing into his NFL career.

Meanwhile, I am sure UGA reports are about speculation, since there are no wins, talent, or other currently existing or historical phenonmenon worthy of mention. I am sure that headlines such as "I hope our entire team doesnt p**** out again next year against Auburn" are prevalent. Godd luck with all that, and by the way its "2011 NATIONAL CHAMPION Auburn fans" to you.

I first want to say i am an auburn fan and I have to agree with ANO1 statements. This is an Auburn blog not a Cam newton Blog and it seems thats what is mostly reported on her is Cam Newton I would like to see updates regarding our team and I could care less about a Cam Newton shoe deal. This is coming from an Auburn Fan

I'm really steamed that Andy isn't providing news about the big game coming up this Saturday. Oh yeah, it's February. I'll take every bit of Auburn football news I can get right now. If I wanted UGA news, I'd get a police scanner.

Anon3 - As far as I'm concerned Cam will always be part of the Auburn Family. The way he conducted himself on and off the field last season was exemplary, and I'd like to see you perform like that with as much media scrutiny and hoopla surrounding you. Good luck. Why don't you go back to reading your Thayer Evans conspiracy updates and trolling other AU blogs. Excuse me, I'm going to go gaze into my Crystal Trophy some more.

gaze into your crystal trophy really. How much blood and sweat did you lose this year earning "your trophy". Im an Auburn Alum I was just tring to point out that Cam is gone its obvious hes shady along with his father the rest of the United states sees it but your so nieve you refuse to see anything else. Once again this is coming from an Auburn Grad directing this to JDin Macon who has proabably never even stepped foot on a college campus.

congrats Andy! It looks like some AL/AJC.com commenters have ventured over to your neck of the woods!

Thanks for the update, Andy. Great news for Cam and the Auburn family.

As for the troll, the NCAA investigation was over when they declared Cam Newton "Eligible without condition" on December 2nd.

If you want the case re-opened, all you have to do is something neither the SEC or NCAA could do after months of investigation. That would be find one scrap of evidence that money changed hands.

I know it breaks the hearts of bammers and DullDawgs, but the NCAA has boxed up the files and is no longer working on the case. Sorry, but your most treasured dreams aren't going to happen.

Anon. 1 is bitter that no thUGA players are worthy of a shoe deal. ;)

Anon "Auburn Grad" - I actually have 2 degrees from Auburn. I've also donated plenty of time, money, sweat and services to the University and the atheletic department over the years, so, yeah, I feel like I have part ownership in that "crystal football". And you, my friend, obviously can't detect when someone is just trying to get a rise out of them, since you took the bait like a hungry large mouth bass.

Are you sure you went to Auburn?

In your earlier post you referred "Auburn Fans". Your posts don't lead me to believe you are truly an Auburn fan, but merely some internet troll lurking around opposing teams blogs/websites looking to get a rise out of the other teams fans because you're bored.

You suggested I "tread lightly". No such thing on the interwebz buddy.

That anonymous guy that claims to be an Auburn grad made seven (count 'em, seven) errors in spelling, punctuation or grammar in one short paragraph. That was in his post of 2/14 at 3:48 PM.

No Auburn grad would write like that.
