Washington qualifies, Phillips enrolls

Auburn got good news today: DB Demond Washington got approved by the NCAA Clearinghouse, according to the fine folks over at AuburnSports.com.

Head coach Gene Chizik also confirmed that offensive lineman Aubrey Phillips will begin practicing with the team tomorrow. Phillips announced his intention to transfer from Florida State last month after a falling out with the Seminoles coaching staff.

That brings the number of players from Auburn's 2009 recruiting class that are with the team to 21.

That leaves four players still waiting word from the NCAA Clearinghouse: S Daren Bates, CB Taikwon Paige, DL Terrance Coleman and DT Josh Jackson.

Three players -- DB Reggie Taylor, CB Izauea Lanier and WR LaVoyd James -- will go the junior college route. Another, RB Brandon Jacobs, is expected to sign a contract with the Boston Red Sox, who took him in the 10th round of the MLB draft in June.
