Auburn could be No. 1 when the BCS rankings come out this afternoon. That's what some ESPN projections say could happen.In the meantime, the Tigers continued to climb the polls after their 24-17 win against No. 6 LSU.
Auburn is ranked third in the USA Today coaches' poll and the Associated Press poll, up two spots. It jumped Oklahoma, which lost to Missouri, and TCU, which beat Air Force.
The Tigers earned three first-place votes in both polls.
It's the highest Auburn has been ranked since it was No. 2 in October of 2006.
The coaches' poll is one third of the BCS rankings formula, which will be released tonight around 8:30 ET. Auburn was fourth in the initial rankings last week.

As usual, here's a breakdown of the AP voters' ballots:
- Three first-place votes for Auburn from Doug Lesmerises of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, John Niyo of the Detroit News and Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News.
- 16 voters had Auburn No. 2. Some notable ones: Cecil Hurt of the Tuscaloosa News, Craig James of ABC, Jon Solomon of the Birmingham News and Kyle Veazey of the Jackson Clarion-Ledger.
- 16 voters had Auburn No. 3. In this group: Chris Fowler of ESPN, Kirk Herbstreit of ESPN, Randy Rosetta of the Baton Rouge Advocate.
- 24 voters had Auburn No. 4.
- Tom Keegan of the Lawrence Journal World is the only voter with Auburn fifth. His top-four are Oregon, TCU, Boise State and Missouri.

The way the past few weeks have gone, I don't want to be #1 heading to Ole Miss. I hope Oregon gets beat in USC and we beat Ole Miss, so we can move up to #1 going into a game against UT-Chattanooga.
If we want to be a top program we should be able to handle being #1. Bammers would never complain about being #1.
I don't care where we are ranked. #1 is just fine. I just want us to go 1-0 this season.
