Since making statements earlier this morning, Cecil Newton, Cam's father, has toned done his rhetoric in response to reports alleging his son of academic misconduct at Florida.

He said he couldn't comment on the issue when contacted by the Ledger-Enquirer and that he would release a statement later today. But that didn't stop Cecil from defending his son to two outlets earlier this morning.

"Any logical thinking individual should stand back and say, 'What is really going on here?'" he told AuburnUndercover.com.

Newton also made several several quotes that have appeared on the Paul Finebaum Twitter accounts.

"This is a character assassination attempt," he said. "Who is going to profit and why are they are going to profit? We sure don’t."

He also said, "I think there's a group of people who have a hidden agenda and don’t want to see him as a Heisman nominee, let alone winner."

In other news, Urban Meyer denied being the source of the story today.
