Men's hoops: Campbell 61, Auburn 54

Tony Barbee fell to 0-3 in his first season at Auburn after the Tigers' 61-54 loss to Campbell in the Global Sports Hoops Showcase on Saturday at the Auburn Arena.

The Tigers committed 24 turnovers, getting out-scored by 11 in the second half. The Camels improved to 2-2.

Guard Andre Malone was Auburn's top scorer for a second straight night, scoring 17 points. He went 5 of 8 from 3-point range.

Nobody else reached double figures. Earnest Ross finished with seven points, seven rebounds and five assists. Kenny Gabriel, the team's second-leading scorer, was scoreless, going 0-for-5 from the floor and committing six turnovers.

The Tigers finish the three-game tournament Sunday at 6 ET against Middle Tennessee State.

I know its going to be an ugly, ugly hoops season but I like this coach.

I just hope the attendance to these games weren't so abysmal that AU won't be able to host another little tournament like this in the future.

The regional baseball tournament last spring was a blast. Hopefully in a couple years hoops will get respectable and AU can invite some bigger schools and have a fun and semi-meaningful weekend of basketball.

With the way this one is going, it doesn't look like it. But maybe they can as long it has that new arena smell.

Any hope for this team?

No, seriously, did this team look better tonight than the last two games? Can they just not finish? Been close towards the end last two nights and just can't finish. They were even up today!!

I wish we could play all our games on the road this season; otherwise, it could take years to ever get above .500 in the new arena.
