Auburn offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn was named one of 36 nominees for the Frank Broyles Award, which is given annually to the nation's top assistant.Malzahn's Tigers rank sixth in the country in total offense (505.2 ypg) and fifth in scoring offense (42.8 ppg).
Auburn's only other Broyles Award winner is current head coach Gene Chizik, who won as the Tigers' defensive coordinator in 2004.
Five finalists will be announced Nov. 29. The winner will be named Dec. 6.

Coach Gus should be a shoe-in for this one. The Tigers are leading the NATION in yards per rush, yards per passing attempt, yards per play and are in the top five or so in just about any offensive category you can name.
One simple, factual writeup should get him a unanimous vote.
