Auburn looks for improvement on defense

First, let me congratulate the blog for reaching 200 Twitter followers. As promised, here are the latest members of the War Eagle Extra Twitter family (and let me say I like, and wholly endorse, the jockeying to be No. 200).
Anyway, follow the blog on Twitter here as we make our triumphant march toward 300.

I wrote an article for today's paper about Auburn's defense. Here's how it starts:

AUBURN, Ala. — There are two ways to look at Auburn’s defensive performance in Saturday night’s 41-30 victory against West Virginia.

From a negative perspective, the Tigers gave up 509 yards, couldn’t stop the Mountaineers on third down and missed far too many tackles.

On a positive note, they forced six West Virginia turnovers, got constant pressure on quarterback Jarrett Brown and scored a touchdown that sealed the win.

Naturally, defensive coordinator Ted Roof found a middle ground.

“I rate it good enough to win,” he said. “But in order for us to continue to win, that’s not our goal.”
