Auburn picked up a commitment from four-star Jess Lanier High linebacker LaDarius Owens on Sunday, according to the Tigers' three main recruiting Web sites, AuburnSports.com, Inside the Auburn Tigers and AuburnUndercover.com.
The 6-foot-2, 225-pound Owens, who is from Bessemer, Ala., is the No. 3 ranked recruit in the state and the No. 7 outside linebacker in the country, according to Rivals.com. He had offers from Alabama, Florida State, Clemson and LSU, among others.
He is the nephew of former Tigers running back James Owens, the first black scholarship player in Auburn history, who played from 1970-72.
The Tigers now have 16 commitments for 2010. Owens is the fourth linebacker, joining Jake Holland of Pelham, Ala., Jawara White of Troy, Ala., and Jessel Curry of Buford, Ga.
