Finally! Auburn releases men's hoops schedule

After months of work, the Auburn men's basketball team finally released a schedule for coach Tony Barbee's first year.

Some notes:
  • Auburn opens the new Auburn Arena on Nov. 12 against UNC-Asheville.
  • The Tigers host three-day Global Sports Hoops Showcase from Nov. 19-21. Opponents are Samford, Campbell and Middle Tennessee State.
  • Auburn has 11 games against 2010 postseason teams.
  • The Tigers play Rutgers in the SEC/Big East Invitational in Pittsburgh's new Consol Energy Center.
  • Token quote from Barbee: "We have the always challenging SEC schedule as well as some quality non-conference games. It provides a difficult challenge for our young team, and one that we can grow from. The inaugural game in the Auburn Arena will be special as well as hosting a three-day tournament the second weekend of the season."
  • A pair of former Auburn assistant coaches are bringing their teams to Auburn: Campbell's Robbie Laing and Georgia Southern's Charlton Young.
  • First SEC game in the new arena will be against LSU on Jan. 8.
  • First SEC road game is against Kentucky on Jan. 11. Ouch.

Charles, I understand it's probably been a long week, so no need to apologize for silly mistakes. But Auburn is in the CENTRAL time zone, not eastern. I wouldn't want you missing any games this year because of the time change!!!

Also, if it's not too much trouble, I have a grand-nephew in Hawai'i. He's serving in the Armed forces and I'm quite proud of him for following in the family footsteps (I served two tours in the Korean War). I don't know what time zone that is, but would it be possible to list the games in a time zone that is accessible for our troops like him serving overseas.

Thank you for all the hard work you do!

Normally I would gripe over the wimpy BB schedule but since Barbee probably has no idea who will be on his team come November, this is probably a wise plan. Essentially he has a twelve game exhibition season which we hope will enable him to pick a team by the time SEC season starts.
