Auburn stays No. 2 in BCS rankings, closes gap on Oregon

Auburn remained No. 2 behind Oregon in the latest Bowl Championship Series rankings, which were released Sunday night. But the Tigers are nipping on the Ducks' heels.

Oregon had a BCS average of .9638 compared to Auburn's .9611, a difference of .0027. Last week, the Ducks had a .0178 advantage.

The top two teams at the end of the regular season will play in the BCS championship game.

TCU remained ahead of Boise State in the third spot following its win against Utah on Saturday. The Horned Frogs made a modest gain on the Tigers for the No. 2 spot, moving within .0352 points in the standings. They were .0688 points behind last week.

Can't you just hear the ESPN guys in their pre-show meeting. "let's see...what can we do to generate a little controversy this week?...Say....how about we promote TCU as better than Auburn and push them to the top of the ratings? That ought to cause a little heartburn with those SEC fans and get people talking".

I think Robert Smith, or Jessie Palmer or whoever is told by ESPN producers stir the pot by making outlandlish claims. If they all got up there and agreed for 45 minutes it be boring I suppose. Still, for anyone to say TCU deserves to be ranked ahead of a 13-0 Auburn team is ridiculous.

TCU is a good team but they were a good team last year and didn't Boise State embarrass them in the bowl game? I remember watching it and being BORED.....

I care only a miniscule amount about the polls. We're ahead of ua-t and that's good enough for me. I would absolutely love to see TCU beat Oregon, but not at the expense of AU getting a shot IF we win SECCG.

Let's just beat the dawgs then the turds and I'll be ecstatic.

ANonymous - um, no. It was 17-10 with Boise scoring late to win. Dalton threw 3 INTs in that game. Total yds was even.

I don't know what the media fascination is with Oregon. Are they really that much better than last year when they didn't get a SINGLE 1st down in the first half against Boise?

I'd definitely have the Ducks 4th.
