Live blogging Gene Chizik's teleconference

Gene Chizik has come and gone. Here's what he had to say:
  • "This ought to be a great matchup this week. Ought to be an exciting time for our players. Georgia's playing really good football right now, both offensively and defensively."
  • On being able to clinch the West this Saturday: "There's not a lot you have to talk about. Everybody knows what's at stake. If you keep winning, the stakes get higher every week."
  • On the defense: "I don't think there's any questions there are moment when we can improve defensively. But I think we've made improvements."
  • On Georgia's offense: "They're great in their perimeter passing game. They're going to challenge you a minimum of six times throwing it deep."
  • On A.J. Green: "He's a force on their offense."
  • Thinks younger guys will get a better picture of this rivalry as week goes on. "It's just a great rivalry. It's what college football is all about."
  • "Our senior class hasn't beaten Georgia before. They know it. They're going to read it, hear it. But that's all in the past."
  • "This is a very good football team. Don't let the wins and losses fool you."
  • Said there's a huge improvement in Georgia's defense from the beginning of the year. Said the group looks more comfortable in the 3-4 scheme.
  • Said Cam Newton is looking better as a passer. "I think there's a comfort level that you would hope he had coming into Week 11 and he does."
  • Said it'd be nice to have CB T'Sharvan Bell back this week. No update, though. Said LB Jessel Curry is "banged up."
  • On Darvin Adams returning punts: "He'll continue to work back there." Doesn't know if he'll do it in the game. Said Auburn needs more yards back there.
  • "To me right now, I'm not very happy with our punters. Period."
  • LB Daren Bates is in the same boat as T-Bell. "That's going to be a day-by-day situation."
  • On having a big senior class and that helping in a rivalry game: "It ought to be important to them."
  • Are these games make or break? "This one game is the only thing that myself and hopefully these guys are focused on."
  • If Chizik wins, he'll be 19-5 at Auburn, opposite of his 5-19 record at Iowa State. "I don't really look back at anything and try to dissect in great depth because I try to go forward. But like I said before, it was a building process and I feel really good about where the building process at that time. And I feel like the track we were one was going to lead us to be very successful."
  • More important: reps for young guys or rest for old guys. "It's probably both. This is Week 11 without a break and that's been tough on our guys. But where we are in Week 11, we're pretty good right now without having any days off."
  • On young guys: "They all played solid."
And that's a wrap.

Georgia fan here. Always enjoy taking in the Tiger Walk when we play over there. How long before the game does the Tiger walk usually start? Thanks, and hopefully we can put up a good fight Saturday.

2 hours before the game, usually.

JJBA - enjoy it, cause I won't. I attended to Tiger Walks years ago and AU lost both games. I purposely stay far away.

I know the d line starters got some rest Saturday, but what about the o line guys? If second string guys played, how'd they do? And Andy, in your opinion, if we make it to the SECCG, would you rather see us play SC or UF? I'm kind of leaning towards SC.

I think almost everyone wants to see Florida now. That's the best storyline out there with the Urban Myer rumors swirling around this Newton thing.
