• There aren't too many outlets that cover Ball State, so there might be minimal stories this week. But Doug Zaleski is all over the beat for the Muncie Star Press. Here's his game story for the Cardinals loss last weekend to Army.

• And lastly, today's story about inconsistency on a shuffling offensive line.

• Jerry Hinnen over at the War Eagle Reader tries to find the right word to call Auburn's win against West Virginia -- resilient, lucky, opportunistic -- before coming to the conclusion that the Tigers are good again.

• Auburn has come a long way in the last year, writes Kevin Scarbinsky of the Birmingham News.

• Auburn is up to sixth in Chris Low's SEC power rankings on ESPN.com.

• 6. Auburn: After rolling up huge rushing numbers in their first two wins, the Tigers turned to the pass last Saturday in rallying from a 14-0 deficit to beat West Virginia at rainy Jordan-Hare Stadium. A fourth straight home game awaits Auburn this weekend against Ball State, as the Tigers should be 4-0 going into the Tennessee game on Oct. 3. This is a team that’s starting to believe and a team that has great chemistry.
  

• He also gave quarterback Chris Todd a helmet sticker for his performance against West Virginia.

• Take note Minnesota Gophers fans: If you're drunk enough to get kicked out of a football game, you'll have to pass a breathalyzer to get into the stadium the next time. Here's the best quote that we can all relate to (I think):

• Patrick Day, a junior who skipped tailgating at the home opener last Saturday to get in line for a good seat in the unreserved student section, said: "I think if you're terrible and puking, then are you really enjoying the game? I've been puked on before. You know, that's just not necessary."

• So a couple of Florida players have tested positive for swine flu and now everybody's starting to panic. Is this a reason the Gators only beat Tennessee 23-13? I'll think I'll give credit to the Vols for playing better than people thought they were capable of?

• Alabama's "preseason" is over, writes John Zenor of the Associated Press.

• Georgia QB Joe Cox quieted some of his doubters, writes David Hale of the Macon Telegraph.

• Sports Illustrated's Stewart Mandel chimes in with his College Football Overtime, a wrap-up of the weekend's events. No mention of Auburn, although he writes about West Virginia wasting a 509-yard offensive effort in the loss. On the third page, there are couple of good videos. One shows Florida quarterback Tim Tebow and Tennessee safety Eric Berry meeting in a solid collision. Not sure who took the worst of that. The other is of a pretty nice game-saving play by Virginia Tech quarterback Tyrod Taylor to beat Nebraska.

• And lastly (sorry, had to cut the links short today), Auburn's getting a little bit of love from the AP voters, moving into 28th place. But the Tigers are getting a LOT of love from San Francisco Chronicle columnist Ray Ratto, who voted Auburn 7th, higher than anybody else.
