The Auburn men's basketball team got its first two verbal commitments for 2011 Wednesday when center Willy Kouassi and forward Bernard Morena said they'd sign with the Tigers.
AuburnUndercover.com and Rivals.com reported the news first.
Both players are natives of Ivory Coast and are enrolled at Central Park Christian High in Birmingham. They play for Team Alabama AAU coach Darien Knox, who is their legal guardian.
According to Rivals.com, they have been playing basketball for five years and have been in the United States for 20 months. The players have described themselves as "a package deal."
Rivals ranks both players as three-star recruits.
Kouassi, a 6-foot-10, 215-pound center, had offers from a number of programs, including Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Memphis and Pittsburgh. Rivals ranks him as the No. 135 player in the country and the No. 15 center.
Morena, a 6-foot-8,195-pound forward, is not ranked by Rivals. He had offers form Alabama, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt, among others.

"According to this Rivals.com article" is a subscription only story.
Here is a free article that tells us about these 2 gentlemen by Kevin Scarbinsky and Steve Irvine
Sorry, did not realize that was a subscription story.
Hey, AB, no apology necessary. I remembered the Scar/Irvine article from last month 'cause it's a very interesting story. Thanks so much for the good news about their AU pledge.
"their AU pledge" being Kouassi & Morena's, not Scar & Irvine's!
These players obviously have a lot of upside. Good pickups for Coach Barbee.
AUSOME!!!
