Gene Chizik just stopped by the
media room to talk about today's scrimmage. Here's what he said:
- Half-practice, half-scrimmage today. The team worked situations, two-minute drills and special teams.
- Lots of young guys again. The staff is working on making decisions on who can play.
- A lot of veterans didn't do much today. Predominantly young guys.
- Zac Etheridge got some live reps today. "He flew around today," Chizik said.
- Demetruce McNeal stood out to Chizik. So did Harris Gaston and Ladarious Phillips.
- Team didn't go live in punt return drills.
- Chizik thinks team has a bunch of holes to fit on special teams. Lots of freshmen will be asked to fill those spots.
- Chizik was not sure if this will be the last scrimmage before the first game.
- "We've got to start getting into preparing for opponents," Chizik said.
- Nothing new on the right tackle and backup quarterback spots.

Thanks for being (I think) the first person to get this info out for everybody. You do a great job. Love the blog.
Thanks Andy. I have been assuming the large number of scrimmages means lots of freshmen look to be playing.
Thanks Andy! Great job, as usual. Good to see that the young guys are getting some good reps. I know we will need a lot of them this year. I am so pumped about AU football and I can't wait til Sept 4th!!!!!
