Auburn will find out if Clemson is for real or a paper tiger

Auburn plays Clemson tonight at 7 p.m. ET. Here's how today's game advance starts. If you missed The Edge breakdown, click here. I'll be back with more later this afternoon as a lead-in to tonight's game:
AUBURN, Ala. — Whether sincere or simply taking a page out of the Lou Holtz hyperbole playbook, Auburn went out of its way to be effusive with its praise of Clemson this week.

Defensive coordinator Ted Roof called Clemson “one of the most athletic teams that’s ever on the schedule.”

Defensive line coach Tracy Rocker said Clemson’s offensive linemen “all look like basketball players. They just all weigh 350.”

Head coach Gene Chizik said Clemson is such a physical team that it would fit in well in the SEC.

Everyone will find out if any of it is true tonight at 7 ET at Jordan-Hare Stadium, in what is No. 16 Auburn’s only true non-conference test this season.

For all the compliments heaped on Clemson (2-0) this week, nobody really knows if the visiting Tigers are as good as the team that won nine games last year and captured the ACC’s Atlantic Division crown.
