Final: Auburn 37, UT Martin 20

Interesting game. Not a great performance by Auburn, but a win nonetheless. When you've lost four straight, that's all you can ask for.

Pretty impressive performance by Kodi Burns, who looks like he gets a little better each game. It's hard to figure out why he was kept off the field for so long this year.

Anyway, here's a preview of tomorrow's lede. I'll blog some more about it tomorrow when we follow up with head coach Tommy Tuberville.

AUBURN, Ala. – A familiar feeling overcame Kodi Burns in the third quarter Saturday, shortly after Tennessee-Martin, a Football Championship Subdivision school, pulled even with a lackadaisical Auburn.

Nauseating describes it best.

“I was just sick of seeing this,” the quarterback said. “It’s the same story every week. I was just sick of seeing it and didn’t want to see it again.”

Burns made sure the Tigers’ season didn’t sink any lower, running for a career-high 158 yards and scoring two touchdowns in Auburn’s sometimes-shaky 37-20 win.

It was Auburn’s first win since Sept. 27, a streak of 42 days. The Tigers avoided their first five-game losing streak since 1999.

“It was great to sing the Auburn fight song again,” running back Ben Tate said.

Thank goodness we won yesterday, it would have been ugly had we not, but it still didn't feel like a real romp against a soft homecoming scheduled team. At least it was a "W".
