Final: Ole Miss 17, Auburn 7

They're closing down the press box, so I'll have to brief. I'll try to get more of a game recap up here tomorrow, since I drive back to Auburn tonight. In the meantime, here's tomorrow's lead:

OXFORD, Miss. – For the first time in nine years, Auburn’s holiday calendar looks like it might be wide open.

The Tigers’ once-certain bowl hopes took a huge hit Saturday after a 17-7 loss to Ole Miss at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The Rebels (5-4, 3-3 SEC) ran wild for a season-high 233 yards and Jevan Snead threw two touchdown passes to send a reeling Auburn to its fourth straight loss.

With just three games remaining – and No. 6 Georgia and No. 2 Alabama looming on the horizon – Auburn (4-5, 2-4 SEC) needs two victories to avoid missing a bowl game for the first time since 1999.

“You’re going to have years like this,” head coach Tommy Tuberville. “You’ve got to take the wins, you’ve got to take the losses and you’ve got to go on. …

“Look at all the teams across the country – everybody has a bad year once in a while.”
