Tuesday update: Billings, Johnson doubtful

Not the biggest news day out of Auburn today, but head coach Tommy Tuberville said WR Montez Billings and LB Merrill Johnson are doubtful. Billings broke his nose against Tennessee-Martin and Johnson broke his hand.

If Billings can't go, Tuberville said a group of players would rotate in his spot.

Chris Evans
will start at OLB for Johnson.

In other news:
  • Auburn will wear a helmet sticker with Virgil Starks' initials to honor the Senior Associate Athletic Director, who died of a heart attack last weekend.
  • It seems some Auburn players just can't get the Soulja Boy episode out of their heads from last year's Georgia game. It didn't help that the trainer was playing it on a loop all afternoon to remind them. "Um, there won't be no more Soulja Boy. That's all I can tell you," CB Walter McFadden said. "They came out last year, played a great game, their fans got into our heads, everybody doing the Soulja Boy dance. We're feeling down for ourselves. And by our trainer playing it, he really don't have any type of athletic ability and he's in there dancing around, he's making us upset. Like I said it was stuck in our heads, so today the music was a lot of helmets banging against each other."
  • This was from Sunday, but CB Jerraud Powers called Georgia's Matthew Stafford the best quarterback in the country.
  • For the Georgia natives on Auburn's roster, this week's game is their Iron Bowl. Just listen to KR Tristan Davis: "Me being from Georgia, hate's a strong word, but I kind of hate Georgia."
  • The dancing struck a nerve with Davis too, who has something planned if he scores a touchdown: "Oh yeah. I've got something for them. Don't let me get in the end zone. If I score on a kickoff return against Georgia, I'm with (strength and conditioning coach Kevin Yoxall) the rest of my life. I'm going to let it be known. They might want to get me right now."
  • Let the record show Davis was laughing the whole time he was saying this.
