Back from the brink: Pierre-Louis hopes to get career on track following most recent knee injury

I wrote a story for today's newspaper about wide receiver Philip Pierre-Louis. Here's how it starts:
AUBURN, Ala. — In three short years, Auburn wide receiver Philip Pierre-Louis has been through enough career-derailing ordeals to last a lifetime.

There was the knee injury that ended his freshman year before it began, the coaching change that ended up with him in the doghouse, sent home for the summer to get his attitude in check, and lastly a second knee injury that cast doubt that he would ever return to the field.

But Pierre-Louis, a seasoned sophomore, is healthy and back in the coaching staff’s good graces, ready to get his once-promising career back on track.

“His heart is big,” wide receivers coach Trooper Taylor said. “I’m telling you guys, he had every reason to quit and the kid hasn’t.”

That is a great story, but it is really hard to see all this outstanding receiving talent getting playing time. I keep waiting to hear about someone changing position, possibly to DB.

PPL is a great Auburn man. I'd love to have some of his work ethic and dedication. I wish him great successs in all his future endeavors, whether or not related to football.
