The NCAA allows each bowl to award up to $500 worth of gifts for up to 125 participants, according to the article. Players can also receive awards up to $350 from the school and up to $350 from the conference for postseason play.
Here's a look at what Auburn will be receiving for playing in the BCS title game:
- Gift suite items. This is a popular trend among bowls lately. They are private rooms where players can see merchandise. They order from a form, picking out a gift or gifts up to the NCAA limit of $500. The items are then shipped to the campuses of the schools.
- A watch. Type: Fossil.
- A cap. Type: Unspecified.
- Luggage. Type: Ogio Cooper backpack.
If I had my choice, I'd go with the Capital One Bowl. It gives out a straight $420 shopping spree to Best Buy.

It looks like Andy got a cool clip art icon of a swag bag for his bowl trip goodies.
Straight Google image search. It's the only way to blog.
Beach stuff at the Hawaii Bowl looks nice!
And then they bill the school for the cost of these 'gifts'...
So they could get up to $1200 worth of stuff? I'd say they earned it.
