Auburn's Gene Chizik named Home Depot National Coach of the Year

The award won't be presented until Thursday night during ESPN's awards show, but Auburn's Gene Chizik was named the Home Depot National Coach of the Year on Wednesday.

Chizik, of course, led the Tigers to a 13-0 record, SEC championship, No. 1 ranking and spot in the BCS title game this year.

The award has been given out since 1994. Chizik is the first Auburn coach to get it.

He earned a $100,000 bonus by winning the award, bringing his total bonus compensation up to $700,000 so far this year. He can still earn $650,000 more in bonuses based on how Auburn fares against Oregon in Glendale, Ariz., on Jan. 10.

Dan Mullen stated that the only way he would be leaving Starkville is in a pine box.

The box will be arriving in Gainesville next week...
